Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shire Councils have received joint funding from the Future Drought Fund to prepare drought management plans for key recreational water bodies in the region. This was one of a number of actions identified by the Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Regional Drought Resilience Plan, available at https://www.agriculture.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/parkes-forbes-lachlan-rdr-plan.pdf
This survey seeks to understand community insights for how recreational waterbodies are used across the three Shires, the impacts of drought on the recreational use of these waterbodies, as well as environmental and economic impacts, and how the management of waterbodies during times of drought can be accommodated.
Thanks to joint funding from the Future Drought Fund, we’re creating drought management plans to protect and manage our key recreational water spots. But we need YOUR input to make sure these plans work for the community!
Tell us how you use your favourite lakes, rivers, and wetlands, how drought has affected your activities, and what you think should be done to keep these spots thriving during dry times.
